Rev. H. Albert Sims, Jr., Senior Pastor
Rev. H. Albert Sims, Jr. is the Senior Pastor at Bethesda Church of God. His vision is to reach, teach, and develop souls for Christ and to help people realize that being a Christian is the best life, here and in the hereafter.
Called into ministry at the age of 16, Pastor Sims started a journey of service and faithfulness to the Lord. He attended East Coast Bible College at the Lee University Charlotte Extension.
Pastor Sims came to Bethesda as Senior Pastor in 1999 with over 19 years of pastoral experience. He previously served as Senior Pastor of Mt. Pleasant Church of God for 10 years and Irmo Church of God for 9 years. He also once served as a Youth and Children's Pastor for 3 years.
Over the years, Pastor Sims has served on the Church of God State Council, State Youth and Christian Education Board, State Evangelism and Home Missions Board, and World Missions Board, as well as many other committee appointments.
Active in the local community, Pastor Sims serves on the Board of Directors for the Hannah House Women's Shelter in Columbia, SC. He also serves as a board member for Crime Stoppers of Sumter, SC and a board member for the Sumter Ministerial Alliance.
Pastor Sims is married to his lovely wife Jackie, the love of his life for 35 years. They have one daughter, Rev. Julia Sims-Owens, who is married to Rev. Howie Owens.
